Quick Q&A with Yosi Hernandez
What is your background involving Customer Service and Laser Technology?
Right after high school, I joined the Marines where I did active duty for six years. I then went to Grand Valley State for manufacturing engineering. I also have worked with lasers for six years. I worked at OMT-Veyhl and SMW Tooling where I was a laser operator. While I was at OMT-Veyhl for four years, I learned how to program four different types of lasers. I also worked closely with customers to give them exactly what they were looking for and having that product delivered on time.
What is your current role at Mazak?
I started at Mazak Optonics in March of this year as an Applications Engineer. Primarily, I have been a training instructor for Mazak's basic operator classes. But I am also bilingual, so I recently was apart of the Mazak team who worked our booth at FABTECH Mexico. I will also be a major part of supporting our customers in Mexico during demonstrations and training.
What is your definition of great customer service?
Customer service to me, is working with a customer while having a positive attitude and being knowledgeable of the product or service. This is important to ensure that the customer is as informed as possible about what they are receiving and when. Accurate information and timely service are key.
What are you hobbies and interests?
I like working out and playing sports like soccer and flag football. I do also enjoy watching Game of Thrones and other Neflix and TV shows.
If you could only choose one song to play every time you walked into a room for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Eye of the Tiger by Survivor. It is an awesome song and it is motivating. I actually started playing this song when I walk into my training classes on Monday. I want to set the tone to get my trainees pumped up but also get them to not be stressed out about the training.
